ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is looking for a Product Leader on our Schemas team. This person will lead the team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of the features and functionality that represent the foundation of how customers model their data inside of Benchling. Schemas is what makes Benchling what it is today, and is a big piece of Benchling’s overall platform offering.

What makes Benchling Platform different is that we’ve taken an integrated approach to the R&D lifecycle. This means that any functionality built within the Schemas team needs to have broad applicability to customers and the other Benchling teams that build on top of it. This role requires a desire to deeply understand the capabilities of the platform, the number of ways developers and admins built on top of Benchling, and strong curiosity of the science behind biotechnology.

We’re looking for a Product Leader who can up-level our team and platform user journeys. This role is perfect for leaders who take a systems thinking approach, have an ownership mentality for driving impact, focus on empathy and product craft, and love to constantly see how much faster we can learn and execute.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead product management for our Schemas team.
  • Engage with customers and Benchling fields teams to understand requirements and use cases.
  • Set the vision for the platform primitives that will help accelerate development amongst internal development teams.
  • Empower the admins that use Benchling
  • Comfortable with rapid prototyping, incremental shipping to deliver value to users, while also knowing the need to deliver stable features to our admins and developers. You ensure we ship well-crafted products at a timely pace.
  • Collaborate very closely with Engineering and Design to develop new product capabilities.
  • Partner with Customer Experience, Marketing, and Sales.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years product management with strong preference for experience building B2B SaaS or developer platforms.
  • Ability to think in systems. Understanding what a customer wants and how that might impact various aspects of our product is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to have a long term vision and ship incrementally along the way.
  • Experience with providing technical solutions to internal developers and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to customers and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience setting direction and influencing stakeholders
  • A strong curiosity around the science processes that power the R&D lifecycle.
  • Past experience working with data modeling or databases required.

SALARY RANGE

Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay.  The candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is $192k to $260k.

Total Compensation includes the following:

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Broad range of medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and their dependents
  • Fertility healthcare and family-forming benefits
  • Four months of fully paid parental leave
  • 401(k) + Employer Match

  • Generous and flexible vacation
